Suburban Plight

Here is a great short film for you tonight. It also features some incredible animation that looks very real.

This is made by 18 year old Colin Levy. You can see more of his work and learn more about him over on his website, Peerless Productions.

From the description of the video:
I've been working on it for almost two years - shooting and reshooting, developing the cg elements, editing and animating, etc.. If I had known it was going to take so long I probably would never have started. But in any case, I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and above all, I'm just glad it's finally finished!

This is a live action version of the Pixar animated short film of the same name. I am very impressed with the work they did on this. I checked out the clip from Pixar of Geri's Game, unfortunately it is only a few minutes, but the live action version is better in many ways. I have to give a hand to the makers they did a great job.

Sonata

Everyone loves a love story. I was thinking about Valentine's day coming up, and what to do for my loving wife. I will probably get her a single red rose, since I know she likes them but she does not like the expense of a whole dozen. Roses mean something special to the ones we love and care about, and the lead character in this video knows that. A very touching love story with and open ending. Do they get together in the end?

Door Store

It is very cold here these days. We had a high of -23°C, then add the wind chill on top it was close to -40°C. What does any of that have to do with this video, well our back door is not closing very well and we could just use a new door there. I guess we should head on down to the Door Store and pick on up.

Copy Shop

This is amazing! I never expected to see such high quality video on Google Video without paying for it.

From the description of the video.
An amazing Oscar-nominated example of what can be done with a dash of technology, a little creative thinking and a lot of paper! A man wakes up one morning and goes to his work in the copy shop, but finds that when he accidentally photocopies his hand, things spiral out of control. This film is so well crafted on every level: Virgil Widrich and his team painstakingly shot the film, printed out and re-photographed 18,000 frames to create the distinctive, scratchy aesthetic of the film. The acting is impressive, the sound design award-winning - all in all a truly superb short that pushes the animation medium to its absurdist outer limits.

This video is roughly 14 minutes long, but it is really good. Take a look for yourself.
