Just stumbled across this tonight. Like the U2 version but this is a good acappella version. Reminds of stuff that a Saskatchewan band called Hoja does. I'll embed a clip from them below as well just for fun.
Got an early video for you today. I accidentally hit the Stumble button this morning and had this pop up in my browser. Thought it was fun, nothing like a little Mozart to start your day.
Today is Rememberance Day and I would like to remind the people that come to Video Rambler today to remember those that have served and are still serving our country. Thanks to those individuals we are able to enjoy the freedom that we have. I have posted A Pittance of Time by Terry Kelly before, but it is so good that it needs to be reposted again.
I am not a big Weezer fan, in fact I have probably only heard a few of their songs. I StumbledUpon this video and had to post it because of all of the YouTube faces you can see in the video. I am a little worried about how many people I recognize from videos I posted here. Perhaps I spend to much time watching videos on YouTube? What a great way to make their video go viral on the Internet though. Include the people that have already gone viral. Not a bad song either.
This one might get stuck in your head and you will be walking around for the next two days singing Potato. You have been warned. My kids are already saying "Dad stop it!".
I thought the video I posted yesterday was so interesting I had to post this one today. Another classic tune done with Japanese instruments. I am not sure which one I like best? What do you think?
The things people come up with. I can't even begin to describe this, so I will give you some of the description and hopefully it makes sense.
As seen in the beginning of the video, the visitor to the site enters a melody on their computer keyboard. The machine then uses this melody to generate an original and unique 2 1/2 minute piece of music. The web visitor also receives a link to a webcam video of their piece being played.
There is a website associated with the video but it is sponsored by Absolut vodka so if you are under the age of majority (kids that means you) you need your parents. It does not work for me on my Linux computer becuase I have an older version of flash. I am going to give it a try with my Windows machine and see what it is all about. Visit the YouTube page by clicking the video for the link to the website.
What a neat idea. Take shots of people playing one note over a day and edit it together to be a complete song. Thanks to antnhec for suggesting this video.
There is a part of me that is disturbed by this video. Mainly because I know that there are many people in the world that don't have enough to eat, yet we are blessed with abundance, enough abundance that we can take vegetables and create instruments out of them for amusement. That being said, there is also something fascinating about taking vegetables and making instruments out of them.
Every once in awhile I find my Van Halen CD's and play them. Tonight was one of those nights becuase I had some work I had to get done and Van Halen is great to work with at night. It keeps you moving. Of course when I went looking for a video I happened to find this, nothing like a like Eruption.
In the same genre as the Llama Song and the Kitty Dance comes the Guinea Pig Song. I don't know if it is a high of quality as the previous mentioned but it gave me a smile when I watched it.
Here is an entertaining way to learn more about salmon from The Chemical Brothers. Talk about a fun video, I even learned something new about salmon. Pretty fun beat too. Can you do the salmon dance?
Every person that has every had a kitten can relate to this song. It is a little addictive as well. I have been listening to it for about 1/2 hour already.
This video is just fun to watch. These two kids are 12 and 14 years old when this was recorder in 2002. Pretty talented kids. I wonder if they are still performing and how much better they are now.
I just have to laugh at this. I have heard Handel's Messiah performed before but never quite like this. I wonder if Handel is rolling in his grave knowing that this was done to his work. How many hours of practice did it take for them to do this?
I found this video late last night and could not stop laughing. Maybe it was the fact that I was tired but I laughed at it again this morning, so I don't think it was just a late night thing. Looks like it was done for a high school project. They did a good job, and the puppets are just funny. My favourite is the drummer.
Take the Die Hard movies and turn it into a cheesy music video. Who came up with this idea? It does make me want to watch the movies again though. The first one is still the best, but I am looking forward to the four movie coming out soon.
Warning: Foul language and violence. Not suitable for the kids. You have been warned.
There is just something funny about animals talking. I remember seeing the television show Mr. Ed in reruns and thinking it was absolutely hilarious as a kid. Here are two videos featuring animals singing for you. I think the cow one is a little better but both are good.
Had the opportunity to take in Jesus Christ Superstar on Friday night in Saskatoon. It was an excellent performance. There were times that the music and singing were so good that you had to wonder if it was a recording or live. I suppose when you do the same show so many times that you can do it flawlessly. If you want to know more about the this tour check out www.thejcstour.com. It was a great performance, and not only that but my wife and I had front row seats.
This guys is really good. I have trouble making crystal glasses ring even once, and he plays the Nutcracker on them. Incredible. It really amazes me the talent that some people have and how they use it.
This is a video response to the video by Lasse Gjertsen titled "Amateur". It is a similar editing style, with one major exception, he knows how to play the guitar. The song is pretty good and the editing is kind of fun to watch.
Logged into YouTube today and noticed that Weird Al had a new video posted. The video has an interesting animation style to it. Not sure if I like it or not. The song is a good commentary on all those people out there that sue others for stupid reasons. What is really scary is how often those people win their dumb lawsuits. Glad I don't live in the United States. It is not so bad here in Canada, yet, hopefully we can avoid some of that ridiculousness.
Here is an interesting music video featuring backgrounds from Windows XP along with music composed from the sounds of Windows. I was skeptical at first but it is actually pretty good. Now I will have to go and see if I can find one for Ubuntu, the OS I have been using lately.
A comedian ranting about the cello part in Pachelbel Canon in D. My description is not as good as the video. Take the time to watch it. Kind of a Weird Al meets classical music thing. Made me laugh out loud here tonight. Excellent!
I am not sure how it happened that the theme to Mario has become a cultural icon, but it seems to be everywhere. How did the theme song to a video game get to be so popular? In any case this is a group from Berkeley singing the Mario theme song acappella.
Fractals are really quite amazing to watch and this video that zooms in on a Mandelbrot Fractal is no exception. The creator of this video also created a poster of the what he calls the "blue oyster spiral" in 1993 that took 3 days to create using 34 high end Macs.
P.S. The song is by a group called "Big Pig". It is a great album. You should go buy it is you don't already have it.
I would say that the Barenaked Ladies are my favourite music group. I have liked them since I was in high school. There is something about their music no matter what I am doing I can listen to it. I don't have the new album "Wind it Up" yet, but I have asked for it for Christmas, and I suspect that is one Christmas present I will get.
This video is a fan submitted video for the single "Wind it Up". It was created for the Barenaked Ladies air guitar contest. They do a good job. It is fun to watch and of course the music is great.
I don't know if I should admit that I used to listen to Twisted Sister when I was a teenager. I still have a tape of theirs that I pull out once in awhile, perhaps to relive my teenage years. I did not know that they had a Christmas album, and to be honest I am a little surprised that they have a Christmas album. This video is an animated version of there cover of Come All Ye Faithful. It is different, but they actually cover it pretty well. I don't think I have ever heard a metal version of Come All Ye Faithful.
What kind of uncle would I be if I did not promote my nephews video. He is a good guitar player, he certainly has more talent than most of the family. Here he is playing "Where is My Mind" at his high school. I wish the sound was a little better, but oh well what can you do.
How does a person who can not play either the drums or a piano make a music video? With some very unique editing of course, and a very good job he did. I actually found myself listening to this video while I worked here today. It is some impressive editing.
Ah make it stop! It is stuck in my head and it won't go away! Nothing like a cute video and song about squirrels. There are some pretty cute photos in the video. The song reminds me of the Llama Song again.
Another fun animation featuring the Queen song "We will rock you". The music sound similar to the one found in the water "We will rock you" animation. This little animation made me laugh this afternoon when I found it.
I saw this and I was reminded right away of the Crazy Frog and the Llama Song. I don't know how long this has been out on the net but it is pretty funny. It would not surprise me if this is also a ring tone for cell phones, it certainly is annoying enough, in a cute kind of way. You just have to laugh at the way the bears body jiggles when he is dancing. Warning this one is addictive, you will want to play it over and over and over again. You have been warned.
Weird Al has some really good songs on his new album, and it is great to see an artist use the internet and services like YouTube to promote his album by posting the video of the songs. This one takes a few shots at the RIAA and the stupid lawsuits that they bring against people, who are ultimately their customers. Glad to see Weird Al sharing and promoting himself in this way, not to mention it is a great video.
What is it about singing slugs that makes it so fun to watch. They sure are not that fun to watch in real life. This video will get you up and moving though.
I have been in a bit of a Star Wars mood lately, as you have probably noticed by some of my posts. Found this video the other night and came across it again so here it is. This video takes scenes from the original Star Wars movies and blends them with the Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace.
I can't play the guitar with my hands and here this guy can play with his feet. Not a bad singer from what you can hear. Apparently his name is Mark Goffeney and you can check out his MySpace profile if you want to know more about him.
Weird Al's newest video. Another great song and video from Weird Al. It is interesting to note that this video was suppose to have a big premiere that has been cancelled because the video was leaked on the internet. From Weird Al's MySpace blog:
Premiere cancelled
I'm very sorry to say that the AOL "First View" Premiere of the "White & Nerdy" video has been cancelled.
Apparently, the video has already leaked online, and AOL doesn't feel comfortable doing a "World Premiere" promotion for a video that a number of people have seen already. (I can understand songs leaking, but a video? How'd THAT happen?)
Anyway, it's really a bummer... it would have been great promotion for the album... but hey, life goes on.
I was not able to post this video before, and posted the Mint Royale Volkswagon commercial. Since then this video has been uploaded to Youtube and I can share it with you instead of making you click to another site. I think the animation is really well done in this video, and the remix of Singing in the Rain is great.
Is this the next big thing like Crazy Frog? It is fun to watch, has a fun beat and is just silly enough to make you laugh. I will have to show it to my son and see if it passes the two year old test.
I was originally sent this video for Remembrance Day a couple of years ago and I am happy that I am able to share it with you here. What a great tribute to our veterans.
From the videos description:
On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the stores PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. When eleven o'clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the "two minutes of silence" to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect. Terry's anger towards the father for trying to engage the stores clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was channeled into a beautiful piece of work called, "A Pittance of Time".
Today is my sixth wedding anniversary and I thought since I was posting music videos I would post the music videos of the songs that we played at our wedding. I could not find our song, "If You Could See What I See" by Geoff Moore and the Distance, but I was able to find Savage Garden and Lonestar. Happy Anniversary! Love Always!
Well thanks for joining me on this little tour down memory lane on a Friday night. This last video was a favourite of the girls that I went to school with. It is a fun song and video. Heard it on the radio today along with news that the radio station was going to be interviewing Cindy Lauper tomorrow.
This was a great video back in the 80s. I remember wondering how they did some of the effects in it. Of course these days there is nothing special about them. Fun video
A Canadian short movie about two violin players having a musical duel to impress one attractive lady at a subway station. According to the description this was shown on the Bravo channel. A very well done video and some great violin playing.
I knew this was popular a few years ago but it turned up on the Google Video Movers and Shakers list again. Is it coming back?If so, please God make it stop! Ahhhh, get that song out of my head!
It has been a long day of work today. For some reason this song has been going though my head for the last few hours. I have not heard it in a while, but I guess it seems to fit my mood tonight. I have quite a bit of work to do yet tonight, so it will be a long night.
Sorry about missing Monday everyone. I was away and could not get to a computer long enough to get a post in. I'll try and make up for it today. To start today we have the Star Wars theme song being played on a banjo. Thought it was pretty creative and he plays it well, although I must admit I had trouble telling that it was the Star Wars theme just because it was being played on a banjo.
Kermit the Frog playing and singing the Rainbow Connection. Truly a classic Muppet song. I remember learning how to play it on the ukelele in grade school. I don't think it sounded as good as Kermit's version though.
Ha ha ha. I this just made me laugh this morning. This is the writer and performer of the song "Addicted to YouTube". I have never posted it, but I have seen it. I thought this sheep one was much better, if that is any frame of reference.
A music video featuring an extended version of Duel of the Fates and lightsaber battles from all of the Star Wars movies. It was fun to watch this evening. Makes me want to watch Star Wars now.
Ready for a science lesson? Well here you go, all the elements sung so you can remember them. They they still make kids memorize the periodic table? It did not stick with me. Perhaps I'll have a better chance to remember them all if I learn the song.
I try to resist posting the David Hasselhoff videos, but they are just so funny I can't resist. Who makes the decisions to use the bad blue screens in his videos?
This is just fun. A great animation of some bears rocking to Lenny Kravitz. I noticed there are some other videos featuring these bears available, perhaps you'll see more of them today.
Found this fun video featuring songs from Blue Man Group. They do some great drumming, still not sure about the whole blue face thing though. Whatever works for them I guess.
I am posting late here today, I had to be in Saskatoon early this morning, and things today did not got that great. Not to bore you with the details of my day, all you need to know was things did not go well and it adds up to a bad day. A quick search for bad day and I found this video of a chipmunk singing. The animation is a little cheesy but it fits the mood today.
There is something fun about watching cars crash. Maybe it is a guy thing, but I really thought this was fun to watch.
From the description:
Car Crash test videos edited to the music of the adagio of the Gayane Ballet by Aram Khachaturian. The videos all came from Google Video and were re-cut with iMovie. All very post-modern.
This film is a kind of homage to two of my favourite films, "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Crash" by David Cronenberg. If you like either (or both) of those films I think that you will like this.
I was wasting some more of my precious time today doing a search for drumming over on Google Video, since I enjoyed the Bucket Drumming videos (1, 2, & 3) that I have posted and I came across this interesting drumming video of six drummers in an apartment. I don't know if it is edited a great deal to come up with the video, but I thought it was interesting to watch. Make sure you have a dead bolt on your apartments if these guys live in your town.
This video is one of those videos that you have to watch to believe. In all honesty David Hasselhoff does not do such a bad job of singing, but the video itself is put together so badly that it is just funny.
This is the same song from the original Kitty Dance, but with different pictures of cats used. I would not have posted it except for one of the cats pictures made me laugh out loud. Watch for the cat at 25 seconds in, with its legs spread out. You see that cat several times so keep your eye open for it.
Another cool Animusic video. This time it is a group of animated robots playing a techno-rock tune. This video is just fun to watch and the music just grabs you and keeps you moving. Another very well done animation.
I like Van Halen. I have several of their CD's and I listen to them quite often when I am working. Here is some of Van Halen's tunes played on a violin. I thought they were good played on the guitar, but this guys is pretty impressive on the violin.
It is amazing what you find sometimes. I like Johnny Cash's music, and I posted his version of the Hurt video early. This is Johnny Cash's version of Hurt with scenes from the Star Wars saga edited to fit focusing on Anakin Skywalker. I don't think it has the same emotional feel as the Johnny Cash video but it is creative and well done.
Felt like starting the day with some drumming. Probably need the rhythm to get going this morning. Here is a performance of some guys playing buckets, pans and plates. Listen for the little kid providing the play by play. I thought it was cute.
Ok this video is probably the most annoying video I have seen in a little while, so I had to post it. I don't know where I was when the Llama song actually hit the internet, but this has been around for a while, or so the reading I did about it seems to indicate.
Not sure if the names for the puppets in the title are correct, they might be Hardley and Tag, but the title on Youtube had Fluff and Such, so I left it. This is still one of my favourite Barenaked Ladies songs and this is a fun video with two puppets singing it. Fun effects and worth the five minutes to watch it.
Maybe I can find some more of these puppets, I'll have to look around.
I know I said I only post videos that I like, but I can't decide if I like this video or if it is slightly disturbing. I must admit that there is something about this video that I do enjoy. The fact that someone can put clips of atomic explosions to relaxing music is an interesting form of art. On the other hand it disturbs me that we have done such things to ourselves and our planet.
It has been a while since I posted a Weird Al video and it has been a crazy Friday, so I thought it was a perfect day for Weird Al. It almost makes being a computer geek cool.
Here is a unique video. This guy can play music with his hands. In this video he is playing the Flintstones cartoon theme. He has several other videos of him playing other songs on his website.
Here is a great animation of an older man playing the piano. As he plays you can see various scenes from his life go by. Another touching video that made me think. The animation is well done and the music chosen is very appropriate.
Watched the Johnny Cash movie called "Walk the Line" a little while ago and it made me want to learn a little more about Johnny Cash and his life. There is some good information from Wikipedia. Here is Johnny Cash's version of a Nine Inch Nails song called "Hurt". It is really well done and quite moving.
I used to listen to this song when I was a kid. Maybe I should not post that, oh well, it is true. What makes this video fun to watch is the editing. It has a stop motion feel to it. I thought this is a great video to start the work week off with. That is how I have been feeling lately.
This is great! Amazing what you can do when you mix things together. This song features one person playing all 37 cello parts. Take a look and listen. Very impressive.
This animation is really well done. The computer animation is really well done and it does appear that the music is actually being played by the instruments. Well worth your time to take a look at this one.
This is another video that I have just not paid a lot of attention to when it popped up as a popular one. I always thought "how can that be interesting or entertaining?". Well, I have again been proven wrong, which despite my trying happens way to often. I am sure glad my scanner does not play music, I think it would freak me out if it burst out in a musical number. I do have to wonder how they got the scanner to do that though? People have way to much time on their hands to do stuff like this, and I have way to much time on my hands to talk about stuff like this. It's an evil cycle.
I keep seeing this video on Google video and finally took a look at it. This guy is pretty impressive on the ukelele. I have to admit I did not know you could play "My Guitar Gently Weeps" on the ukelele. I guess you learn something new everyday.
