Got an early video for you today. I accidentally hit the Stumble button this morning and had this pop up in my browser. Thought it was fun, nothing like a little Mozart to start your day.
There have been occasions when a Leatherman or two has gotten me out of a tight spot when I was out camping or fishing. I don't use one as often anymore since I don't go camping as often. Maybe in the spring with my son being older we will go more often. Always wondered how they were made, now I know.
Most people probably think the International Space Station was built to conduct highly sophisticated complicated experiments. If only that were true. This video shows the real reason the International Space Station was built, to discover if boomarangs work in space!
Why can't I train my cats to do this? Heck forget the cats, when are the kids going to learn how to do this? Maybe the cats would be easier to teach? Good thing my kids can't read yet.
The things people come up with. I can't even begin to describe this, so I will give you some of the description and hopefully it makes sense.
As seen in the beginning of the video, the visitor to the site enters a melody on their computer keyboard. The machine then uses this melody to generate an original and unique 2 1/2 minute piece of music. The web visitor also receives a link to a webcam video of their piece being played.
There is a website associated with the video but it is sponsored by Absolut vodka so if you are under the age of majority (kids that means you) you need your parents. It does not work for me on my Linux computer becuase I have an older version of flash. I am going to give it a try with my Windows machine and see what it is all about. Visit the YouTube page by clicking the video for the link to the website.
The title says this is a Guinness Spoof, but I have never seen the original ad, so I have to take their word for it. It is fun to watch. Nothing like seeing a whole lot of stuff tip over like dominoes. My son loved this video. He got some dominoes for Christmas and sets them up and knocks them over all the time. We keep trying to tell him that dominoes are a game but he does not care. Don't blame him. Watching them fall down is a lot of fun.
Now you know that you should avoid driving into those traffic poles. Now I know why I saw them around the US Embassy. Need to stop a truck with explosives, that will do it.
Nothing like becoming famous over night on the Internet. She does a great job, from what I can tell, of the 21 accents. Does the Toronto accent really sound like that? I suppose we all sound like hicks from here in Saskatchewan. I wonder if there is a large difference between accents from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba?
From the description of the video:
Amy Walker does a little tour of 21 accents in 2 1/2 minutes. From the UK and Ireland to Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, France, Australia, New Zealand, and around North America.
Happy New Year! Thought I would take a moment to get a video up now that the kids are in bed. Hope everyone is having a good New Year's Eve. THought this video was really interesting I will have to give it a try.
You learn something new everyday. I never knew there was such a thing as fainting goats. You never see these guys at the zoo. Probably a good thing, the kids would stand there and scare the poor animals all day long.
You have to love how the mind works. It takes information and does its best to assemble it into something that makes sense. This video shows how easy it is for the mind to take the same picture and get two different images out of them. Very neat.
You will know if this guy is behind you. I wonder how many noise bylaws he breaks by pressing his horn. Notice in the video he appears to be out in the middle of nowhere. That is probably for a reason.
Thanks to Darlene over at Blog on the Side for sending me this great video. This video is similar to the Matrix Ping Pong video that was very popular. It think this one is better because you can't see the guys in black as much, but perhaps I have said too much.
You know you wanted to know how it was done, be honest. I know I always wondered how they did it. I only have one question. What do they do with the little bit on either end of the roll that they cut off? Do they recycle it to make more toilet paper? Watch close when the large toilet paper roll is being cut and you will know what I am talking about.
The geek in me just can't help but like watching this. It actually makes monitoring a network look like fun. It can't see my using this but it could probably come in handy for those bigger networks.
Anatomy of a Slashdot Post -- NetQoS Netcosm
This is a great video of what a server undergoing the Slashdot effect (or Digg effect if your a Digger). You have to love the server that is setting there in flames. Nothing like having a server go up in flames.
It is not very often you see something like this. I hope that the reason they are doing this is because they had engine trouble and this is not how they usually move the barge.
