Run, Dragon, Run!

I am starting to see a familiar trend on some videos, especially the ones that my son likes. Must be the mind of a four year old. I got a laugh out of it as well, so it is not all bad. Guess I know where my son gets it from.

Big Buck Bunny

A great animation! It does not get much better than this. I liked the ending, you have to watch to the very end to know what I am talking about.

Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps... and the rabbit ain't no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.

You can find out more at the official website.

The Wall

A fun animation about well, a wall and a cute little alien. You have to watch it. Make sure you have your speakers on so you can hear the audio. My son laughed like crazy when he heard some of it and made me play it over and over. Take a guess at what part he liked (he is four)?

Zoudov

Remember the Cold War? Any one? I do actually. This is a great video that is set during the cold war. Will the spy succeed or will she be caught before she is able to complete her misson. Watch and find out.

Love the animation, reminds of "The Incredibles".

Twit Twit

I have been sick the last few days so no witty commentary today ;).

From the description: Twit Twit tells the story of Charlie, a robot traveling in the far west desert on his Twit Twit (pronounced "Tweet Tweet", it's the name we gave to the hand car because of the sound it does !)

What a crazy day! I needed a good cartoon to make me laugh and this one featuring an owl and a sloth is perfect to make me laugh at the end of the day. There are several others that I might add another day. Great video!

Spider In The Bath

What timing for finding this video. I gave my daughter a bath tonight and sure enough there was a spider in the tub. She was not to happy about that to be quite honest. The whole video reminder me of some of the classic National Film Board of Canada videos.

There's Something In The Water

This was great! An excellent animation done on a whiteboard, or at least that is the looks like. Love the ending, that is how I would like to spend my days. Maybe after I come up with the next billion dollar idea that Google wants to buy out. I can dream can't I.

Meowsville

Not everything is what you think it is in this animation. The story of a cat on a mission, and another cat that knows something is not quite right. Will the first cat get a way with it, or will he get caught by the second? It is a well done animation and the style reminds me of a kids toy, but I am not sure why.

It is hard to write about the characters when they have no names, give me break.

Etterbeek Station Animation

This is creative. The video shows images painted on the walls at a train station. Etterbeek Station, but the description does not say what city. I wonder if the images were drawn there as grafetti or if it was planned by the city. It is creative. The video looks like it was donw in stop motion, but I have to wonder what it looks like as you just go by in the train.

Happy Birthday Video Rambler!

Well today is February 1st and it was one year ago that I started Video Rambler, although it did not get that name until March. The first video I post was "500kV Switch Opening" which is still a really cool video to watch if you have not seen it yet. Video Rambler has become a great hobby for me to do, and in many ways has replaced my television watching habit in the evenings, except for Corner Gas. Video Rambler has already out lived some other similar video blogs out there, most notably Google Video of the Day (GoogleTube) which in many ways was the inspiration for this video blog. I still try to post videos that I find interesting, funny and unique while staying away from those videos of people hurting themselves, being publicly embarrassed or generally doing stupid things.

I hope you have enjoyed the last year of Video Rambler and I look forward to many more interesting, funny and unique videos in the next year. Happy Birthday Video Rambler!

Todays video is actually a rerun of Happy Birthday. I did some searching for a new Happy Birthday video for today but I could not find one I liked better than this one. These guys are just so darn cute.

Looks like it is a stop motion animation day today. A very well done Lego animation. It almost seems like the main Lego character actually has expressions as he goes to mail his letter. It is a pretty impressive video considering it is recorded with a web camera.

Cardboard Box Race

I don't read to many other blogs, I just don't have time for it, but today I visited blog called "Say No to Crack" and they had this video on the front page. I thought the video was very well done so here it is. You have to love some of the things people are doing with stop motion animation these days. The ability for the average person to be able to create a video like this is great.

Sonata

Everyone loves a love story. I was thinking about Valentine's day coming up, and what to do for my loving wife. I will probably get her a single red rose, since I know she likes them but she does not like the expense of a whole dozen. Roses mean something special to the ones we love and care about, and the lead character in this video knows that. A very touching love story with and open ending. Do they get together in the end?

Scenic View

The Vancouver Film School creates some very interesting videos. This animated short once again shows the talent the comes from the school. A very well done video with a character in a situation that most of us can relate to. I know I have always had problems with camera timers. Thank goodness for digital cameras now.

Lemony Snicket: 12 Books in 120 Seconds

I don't read as much as I used to. I think it is because I had to read so much in University I just got tired of it. I do read a lot on line, does that count? In any case this video summarizes the 12 books of Lemony Snicket in 120 seconds. Great now I don't have to read them, but I am sure the video leaves something out.

A snowman that has to break out of his boundaries to recover his lost nose. This animation is very well done. I have to admire the people that do animation like this. I am trying to get into the holiday mood a little bit, I have to go Christmas shopping this week and with all that has happened this fall in our family it is hard to think about Christmas. Gummy Bear Song

I saw this and I was reminded right away of the Crazy Frog and the Llama Song. I don't know how long this has been out on the net but it is pretty funny. It would not surprise me if this is also a ring tone for cell phones, it certainly is annoying enough, in a cute kind of way. You just have to laugh at the way the bears body jiggles when he is dancing. Warning this one is addictive, you will want to play it over and over and over again. You have been warned.

Bath Time

This is a fantastic animated short about a guy just trying to give his dog a bath. Kind of reminds me of trying to get my kids into the bathtub. I am just happy that what happens to this poor guy does not happen to me when I get my kids in the tub. The animation is really well done on level with the animation that comes out of the bigger studios like Pixar and Dreamworks. Hopefully we will see more great animation from Charpu.

Guba - Pingu - Visita a La Abuela

I had a little time to actually surf today and came across a site called Guba. It is another free video sharing site with a little bit of a difference. It also has videos and content pulled from Usenet. If you don't know what Usenet is you should go and read up on it from Wikipedia. They also have television shows and movies that you can purchase and download for a small sum. I will have to give the purchasing and downloading a try sometime, until then there is lots of free content to explore.

Here is a fun Pingu video I found on Guba today. I have posted some Pingu videos before, but I have never seen this one and these videos just make my wife laugh.

Star Wars in 3 Minutes

Someone has way to much time on their hands! I don't know what is worse the fact that someone has enough time to make this video, or the fact that I took three minutes out of my day to watch it and then a couple minutes to write this post up and add it to Video Rambler. Oh well, to late now, you will have to decide. Aside from the earlier rant, the animation is not so bad and it is fun to watch what they did with the action figures.

Benevolence

This is another very good animation from the Vancouver Film School. The animation is very well done and the story is well written, even if there are no words. The lead character finds a robot dog in the trash and unlike the robot dogs previous owner has the courage to do something for the dog. The video reminded me that the world is not full of just what we hear on the news every night. Hope we see more from this film maker Justin Lewis.

These Paws are Made for Flying

The Vancouver Film School has a lot of potential coming out of it these days. Many of the good animated shorts I come across are projects from students at the Vancouver Film School. This one has a ferret that does a pretty good job of flying. I only wish the video was a little longer, it seems to end abruptly. Hope to see some more from the students at the Vancouver Film School.
