A Pittance of Time by Terry Kelly

I was originally sent this video for Remembrance Day a couple of years ago and I am happy that I am able to share it with you here. What a great tribute to our veterans.

From the videos description:
On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the stores PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. When eleven o'clock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the "two minutes of silence" to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect.
Terry's anger towards the father for trying to engage the stores clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was channeled into a beautiful piece of work called, "A Pittance of Time".

Thank you for posting this tribute to Veterans worldwide to whom we owe so much.

I would like to say that I have never seen or heard such a beautiful song of rememberance. I think it should be distributed to radio stations so that they can play it on November 11th. Maybe school children could benefit from the video also. Great piece of work.

From the above comment : I would like to say that I have never seen or heard such a beautiful song of rememberance.
No truer words are spoken! This brought tears to my eyes!

Brilliant, we are trying to get this on the UK Royal British Legion Remembrance Blog for all the supporters of the 2 minutes silence in UK and Europe.

i have never heard this song before, and it says everthing that is needed to be said, brought a tear to my eye

Tomorrow Morning I and other veterans are going to a couple of Schools. we will stand and Salute. we will have our hands shaken by a few. but will the true meaning be there? too many times I have seen cars roll by the parade. Terry hit the nail right on the head it is indeed just a pittance of time. Join me Saturday. I remember, will You remember too?
Thank You.

This is so beautiful and I have never heard this song before either. I will send it to my radio station here and get them to play it tomorrow as well.

I am an 11-year old student and when it was the day before Rememberance Day my principal put on this song for my whole school to hear. I thought: this is the real meaning of Rememberance Day. To think of those who fought for our freedom and just to take 2 minutes of silent, is really, just a pittance of time.

I still get chills down my back when I watch this video. If you would like to download a version you can visit the Canadian Forces website. They have both Windows Media format and Quicktime video available.

Remember to take some time on November 11 and remember all those that served and are serving.

Hi I am in Winnipeg and I work at an Elemtry school. This is our third year showing Terry's video. I am in a grade five class and I had 12 crying children to deal with after the video. It used to be the "Trumpet" and now it's "A pittance of time" I do agree that radio stations should play it on the 11th and mabey the day before.

This has got to be the most touching song I have ever heard. I just listened for the second time and the tears keep coming.

Great Song! I will be performing it accompanied by my wife on flute at the school she teaches at tomorrow at 11 a.m. I hope it causes some to pause and reflect.
